Another thing that I do remember vaguely is the excitement of having tinned soup. Upstairs – cause you never had tinned soup.

We used to live in gran’s bedroom at the front. We moved in there.

And going to school, walking on the planks through.

Interviewer: Did you ever miss any school?

Barbara: No – course you didn’t!
