Cherry Fayre and 1940s weekend
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
10am - 4pm
A free family event with something for everyone!
Over 70 years ago Bewdley was the centre for a flourishing cherry trade and with a 200 year tradition of an annual Cherry Fayre since at least 1817. We hope that people may learn of former times and support our effort to rescue the different varieties of cherry. The event is a joint event with Bewdley Civic Society, telling visitors the history of the cherry orchards in Bewdley.
The weekend will include 1940s re-enactors from 20th Century Revisited @20CrLHG and The Forever 40's, classic 40’s and 50’s cars, the museum's air raid shelter open to visitors and our education room open with 1940's artefacts on show with our fabulous volunteers talking about WWII. There will be a variety of craft stalls, including our resident crafts people @madeinthemuseum and Bewdley Civic Society stall and raffle. A variety of cherries and cherry trees will also be available to buy.
We have live entertainment from 1pm until 3.30pm both days. Saturday, we have Kevin Mac from 1.30pm - 3.30pm and on Sunday, Wyre Forest Big Band will be performing from 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
Do come along for an enjoyable weekend, bring your picnic chairs and set up a relaxing spot in Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens.
Refreshments are available from 10am-4.00pm @bewdleygardenkitchen
