Monday 7 to Friday 25 October

Established over two hundred years ago, The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA), is one of the country’s oldest artist-led societies. It's also very unusual in having its own gallery and staff team, allowing them to put on a wide range of exhibitions at their premises just off St Paul’s Square in Birmingham. These feature the work of the society’s 170 Members and Associates and also artists from around the world who enter regular prize exhibitions.

The RBSA holds an extensive archive of members’ work going back to its origins and is an Accredited Museum. Works from the archive are also shown regularly in our special exhibitions. For an artist to become a member of the Society they have to show six works at an annual Candidates Exhibition. These are then voted on by the membership and only those candidates who receive a majority of votes can then join the Society. The current show here at Bewdley is a selection of work by the Society’s Members and Associates and demonstrates the wide range of styles and media ranging from the traditional to the cutting edge. All works are for sale
