Introduction to Relief Wood Carving
Sunday 26 April, , 9.30am and 1.30pm
Cost: £55
Learn the basic skills used in relief woodcarving, including laying out of the design, setting-in, carving technique, tool selection and sharpening, all in relaxed and positive, can-do atmosphere with close supervision and plenty of demonstration. Participants will be guided through a simple project of their own design. By the end of the session, you will take home a complete, or near-complete, carving of your own, as well as an understanding of the tools and techniques needed to continue your own woodcarving in the future.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some woodcarving experience.
All equipment and materials provided. Refreshments included.
Please note this workshop is suitable for those aged 18 and over.
Andrew Pearson is a highly experienced and talented teacher of students of all ages and abilities, having taught from those aged 5 to a gentleman approaching his 100th birthday. Having trained in three-dimensional design, Andrew’s almost innate understanding of the characteristics of wood was brought to life. He has over 35 years of experience in sculpting, turning, and carving, including joining master carvers to restore Windsor Castle after the fire.
