Workshop

Introduction to spinning and weaving

Saturday 11 July

10am and 1.30pm

Cost: £40

In this lovely, relaxing course, you will learn how to work with a selection of native breed wools.

Working with textile artist, Penny, you will identify some different wools and other fibres. Then you will be taught how to make a skein of wool using a traditional drop spindle.

You will then be able to use an easy, small vintage wooden weaving loom to create a little mat, coaster or wall hanging.

Use your new 'art yarn' fibre that you have just spun, or a selection of lovely commercial wools on a shuttle to create your piece! Hot drink and cake included. All equipment provided. Please note that under 16’s must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Penny Dixon is a textile artist who has been felting and teaching workshops for over 18 years. She is a member of the International Feltmakers Association and the Heritage Crafts Association and her work often reflects inspiration from organic forms encountered on long muddy dog walks.
